This was one of my stamp club projects. I was really happy with the outcome. Even better, I had a little time and actually came up with it myself. We did the faux mother of pearl technique. For the background I inked the embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink and some Early Espresso and ran it through the Big Shot machine. I love the worn look it gives.

I started making these pop can hair bows at Thanksgiving time to make a little extra cash. I thought by not posting it on the blog that I was keeping a good secret, but today as I was browsing my favorites, I saw that someone had posted it on their blog as well as a video tutorial. Anyway, I guess since the cat is out of the bag, I will show you my creations. I still plan to sell them as I have fun making them. Here are a few more pages of my Grandma's calendar. MDS is so much fun. I love that I can create my own layouts, or I have the option of using some layouts that were already created like this one.

MDS has an awesome selection of downloads available that gives such a fun variety. When I started making calendars for my mom and MIL for Christmas about 4 years ago I was printing doubles of photos, buying double paper and embellishments. It got a bit pricey, not to mention having to do it all 2 times. Now, with MDS I can just create the layouts I want and copy them from one to another and simply put in different photos if I need to. I save money on all the supplies.

This last page was the layout I used in March on the calendar, but I put pictures of my baby to submit it for the MDS contest.

I copied this right out of my Stampin'Up demonstrator magazine. I love the Jolly Holiday DSP. I created this with 3 x 3 squares. It is fairly simple to do, but time consuming. This took me a good 3 hours to assemble as each petal is a separate piece of paper, so my plans of giving this away as a gift were quicly changed. It turned out really nice.

I made this book a few years ago and so it is made with mostly retired items. However, it is still very much functional. I love it this time of year when it is time to send out the Christmas cards. The 5 x 5 on board journal (item #108495) or the Art journal which is 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 (item #107065) are still available. They come with a blank chipboard cover so you can decorate it to your liking. I used the round tab punch (item #119864) to put dividers on the pages. It comes with 20 very vanilla pages already and with the spiral border punch (item #119872)and some more vanilla paper (item 101650), you can add pages if you need to. Remember to get some sticky strip (item 104294) or maybe some multipurpose liquid glue (item 110755) to adhere your paper to your album. You can do all your shopping for this on my website www.stamptimesomewhere.stampinup.net. There is some really cute holiday designers series paper in the current catalog that you could use if you want to make it a Christmas list book. Happy crafting.

Another swap and project

Since the card exchange is not SU, I decided to use up some of my retired paper (summer sun and pixie pink). This card was really quick. It probably isn't my favorite card I've done, but it worked.

Since I hosted the card exchange I was in charge of a project for them to do. We did these soap bottles. I got the soap for $1 at the dollar store and then created the quote on word with each family's name on the inside and had it copied onto transparency. As you can see, mine is down a ways. I would have left more transparency on the bottom so it stood up a little more, but I think it is cute. Super easy for neighbor gifts or visiting teaching or even teachers. Next time I'm going to try stamping something and having it color copied onto transparency. :D

September card exchange

I belong to a card exchange that is non Stampin'Up. This month we are doing a 6 x 6 soup recipe card. Here is my card. This is made with a retired Stampin'Up Simply scrappin kit. It was awesome to have all the embellishments as stickers and it makes them turn out so cute!

I am the hostess of the exchange this month. So stay tuned next week to see the project I will have the girls make.

Here is the card we made for September club last night. It was inspired by a card by LeAnn Greff (I think). I used real red, whisper white, basic black and basic gray cardstock. Real red ink. Scallop circle, 1 inch and 3/4 inch circles, 1 3/8 square (only because I don't have the large tag), word window, small oval, boho blossoms punches. I also used silver smooch spritz spray on the white cs for the backing and the tractor seat and wheels. Jumbo eyelet pewter and silver brad. The steering wheel is drawn on with black marker

August Club

I didn't realize I hadn't posted this already. My apologies. This is a pop up card using Under the Stars. it was fun to make and I like how it turned out. I don't know how well the pictures portray it, but the 2 skeeters on the left pop up when you open the card.

I used old olive, basic gray, real red, very vanilla, bashful blue and chocolate chip cardstock. Under the Stars stamp set, 2 step bird punch for the bushes, chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, and retired cocoa and caramel markers to color the bear.

July Club project

This month I wanted to do something simple with few and basic supplies. After searching through my awesome demonstrator resources (ie, SU demo website) I found a technique which is kind of like emboss resist, but it uses the Big Shot embossing folder. All you have to do is use the Brayer and ink up the inside of the embossing folder and run your paper through the Big Shot. The ink transfers to the whole paper minus the embossed portion.

Here are my samples. Each has a slightly different variation.

The 3rd card I ran the white cardstock through the machine as usual and then used a sponge to put ink over the debossed side of the image.

Supplies used: White and black cardstock, Big Shot with Manhattan flowers embossing folder, Melon Mambo ink, brayer, 1/8 black taffeta ribbon, vanilla smooch spritz, sponge, retired sentiment stamp (unsure its name at this second).

My friend is having a baby boy in a month and for part of her gift I decided to make her some birth announcements. I created 3 different designs. Here is the first. It is a trifold card. The 2nd pic is the inside. I used retired stamp set for the foot print and words. Nursery Necessities is the sailboat and "it's a boy". Used Old Olive, Not Quite Navy and Chocolate Chip ink and paper as well as Vanilla Paper. Photo corner punch and 1 3/4 circle, 1 1/4 inch and 1 inch circles. I also used the slit punch on the top of the inside as notches to hold the baby photo.

March club project

This was the last month of my current club and I wanted to create a 3D project with them. I bought these cute little tins at convention and decided this would be a great time to use them. So we decorated the tin and 2 cards to go inside. For the tin I used the Sending Love Designer Series Paper from the Occasions mini catalog #117153. I LOVE the glitter on this paper. I also used Whisper White cardstock and the scallop trim border punch #118402 in the SAB catalog. I used the scallop, 1 1/4 inch punch and 1 inch punch, a silver brad and one of the darling crocheted flowers died pink. I also used the Chocolate satin ribbon. The 2 cards also use the Sending Love DSP. The 1st card is using 1 3/4 inch punch 1 3/8 inch punch, 1 inch punch and 3/4 inch punch for the faux button as well as large oval for the petals and crystal effects on the faux button. For the 2nd card I used the same paper punched with the scallop square punch and the cute little Sweet Pea Stitched Felt flower #117266. The sentiment on the white card is from the SAB set Whimsical Words #119119 (clear).

This was a fun project and such a cute gift idea.

Hey everyone

I am still alive, just as busy I can be and unfortunately it isn't doing fun things like stamping, it is mostly working and taking care of a very needy 4 month old baby. So, on that note, I have asked my sister Liz who is one of my best SU supporters and still a loyal SU user to be an author on this blog. (see today's earlier post).

Hopefully between the 2 of us we can do some more regular posts. I am currently in the process of making some birth announcements and some thank yous for a friend who is expecting in April. I will post them as soon as I'm done.

Meet Heston. he is my new little guy. He is a month old today...wow how time flies after they get here!!

I obviously haven't done much stamping because he thinks he needs to be held...A LOT and I am totally willing. I have, however, been able to work on My Digital Studio. Each year I make my mom and MIL a calendar with our past years pictures. I will give you a little sneak peak and hope that my mom isn't looking, at least for a few more weeks.

A few Christmas cards

This weekend while hubby was gone to the football game I was able to sit down and create a few cards. It doesn't happen very often that I actually have time to come up with my own designs either, so I was proud of myself. I had seen the foil used on a blog before (I think it was Dawn's Stampin Thoughts) and I have wanted to try it. So here is the card I came up with.
I think it gives it a really elegent look, but it is kind of a pain. I did about 15 cards as I will be using them for Christmas and it took quite a while. You have to cut the foil exactly right, then run it through the Big Shot. Then, I used the masking technique and had to use the stampamajig to do the ornaments and that took a while too. Overall, even though they took forever, I think they turned out good.

The second card also took a little time as I used the Stampin' Write markers to color the stamp. This one is simple, but I still like how it turned out. This is another card I will be using for Christmas.

October Club project...A Christmas card

This is the Christmas card I created for October club. I got the general layout from a mother's day card I saw on a website. Sorry if it is you and I don't remember your name to give you credit. I used the Big Shot Texturz background on the Olive paper and the Top Note die for the brackets (just ran through 2 times). The stamped image has red ink splatter using the spritzing tool. For those of you who weren't here....this is how it is supposed to look. :)

My quilt

This is a quilt I started in 2005 when I was pregnant with my 2nd son. I had to leave the class early and so for the past 4 years this has been sitting in a sack unfinished with a background and a circle and I had no idea how to finish it. A few weeks ago my hubby took the boys on the mountain with him hunting and I had some spare time, so I went to my mom's and we figured it out with a little advice from the local quilt shop. I learned how to do bias binding and applique. I love how it turned out, but do not think I will attempt to make something like this again. Now all I need to do is sew on the borders, get a back and have it quilted. The quilt is called a Hopi Basket quilt. I do like how it turned out.

Digital scrapbook layouts

I have to admit that when I first heard of digital scrapbooking I was leary. Not just because I already sit at a computer for 8 hours a day, but because I have so much "stuff" and have invested so much money into that "stuff". However, after trying it, I'm hooked. Now I am not going to have to spend the money developing pictures and having boxes and boxes of photos untouched. I am loving that I can just do the layouts and have it printed into it's own book or a page all by itself to add to my album. It is a better alternative for me as I usually just have all the photos downloaded from camera to computer and left there.

Here are a couple of the layouts I have done in MDS. This program is so quick and easy. You are just going to love it. The only problem is for me to decide what paper and accessories to use, just like when I scrapbook with paper.

My Digital Studio

Ok, so I have now had the MDS (My Digital Studio) for a week and finally had a chance to play with it the other night. My creative mojo wasn't all there and it was late, but this is what I came up with. I just love this software! I now have access to all the accessories and papers and it was so much less messy! Everyone is going to want a copy of MDS for themselves. It is not just for scrapbooking. You can do calendars, cards, videos, and all kinds of fun things. So much easier than photoshop, but with a lot of the same capabilities and access to Stampin'Up! supplies.

This software is available for customers October 1, (I got it early, one of the perks of being a demonstrator). I'll try to play a little more and post a few more things later. The best part of the software is that it is only $79.95. Call me to preorder yours today!

This is the bridal shower invite I made for my soon to be sister-in-law's bridal shower we are throwing this weekend. It is not my favorite thing I've ever made, but what do you do in a hurry?

This was our club project for August. It is using the soot stamping technique, which frankly scared me a bit, but I think I figured it out after a few tries. You can find the tutorial HERE.

I really wanted to learn how to do this technique after I saw this card at convention.I would love to know who created this card and how they did it, but unfortunately the names are not included on these. If anyone knows though, PLEASE let me know! I still want to know how he/she got the black stems and the airbrushed look. If you enlarge the photo you can see the detail. Simply amazing. Mine is very rookie comparatively, but still the technique turns out pretty. I don't have good sealer so I did the cracked glass over mine like this example.

Ok, now that convention is over (so sad about it), here are the swaps I did. After having done them and looked at them for so long, I hardly like them anymore.

This one was CASED from a swap I got last year and I'm sorry to say I don't know how did it. So cute. I did change a couple of things like the punch I used and added the blue star.Ingredients: Stamps: Nursery Necessities, ABC wheel. Ink: Bashful blue, Basic black and Certainly Celery. Paper: Bashful blue, Certainly celery and Whisper white. Accessories: Scallop punch, small and large star punch, 1 3/8 circle punch.

This next card was my own design. I like to keep them simple, especially while making a bunch at once.
Ingredients: Stamps: Simply said. Ink: Mellow Moss, Rich Razzleberry. Paper: Mellow moss, Rich razzleberry, Whisper White. Accessories: Big Shot Birds and Blooms die, crystal effects, linen thread.

This next card is very simple, but has a little bling, which I realy like.

Ingredients: Stamps: Flight of the butterfly. Ink: Chocolate Chip and Taken with Teal (direct to paper). Paper: Taken with teal, Chocolate chip, Whisper White. Accessories: Fine Cosmo Glitter, Chocolate chip and pretty in pink taffeta ribbon.

This was a copy of a card I previous made with retired papers. I had just received the new Razzleberry Lemonade paper and had to try it.
Ingredients: Stamps: Kind and caring thoughts (hostess Level 3). Inks: Melon Mambo, Rich razzleberry, Old Olive marker. Paper: Crushed curry, Razzleberry lemonade DSP, Whisper white. Accessories: White 1/4 grosgrain ribbon, spiral punch.

This is another card I cased and again have no credit to give, but it is very fun and oh so cute. I did change the colors a bit.
Ingredients: Stamps: Kind and caring thouhts. Ink: Melon Mambo. Paper: Basic black, Whisper White, melon mambo, old olive, chocolate chip. Accessories: Big Shot Textures background, scallop punch cut with paper snips, 1 1/4 inch circl punch, small oval punch.

This card I wanted to use the watercolor crayons and so I found the image to use and then went from there. I thought it turned out kind of pretty.
Ingredients: Stamps: Flight of the butterfly. Inks: Elegant Eggplant. Paper: Whisper white, Perfect plum, Pale plum, Mellow moss. Accessories: Soft subbles watercolor wonder crayons direct to stamp and spritzed with water, mellow moss taffeta ribbon, Big Shot texturz die.

And this last card was also cased from my upline...I think maybe Jackie Bolhius, but not positive. I changed the colors a bit.
Ingredients: Stamps: Under the stars and kind and caring thoughts. Ink: Chocolate chip and Handsome hunter. Paper: Kraft, Handsome hunter, Chocolate Chip. Accessories: Chocolate chip 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

Baby shower invites cowboy style

I have a friend whose sister is going to have a baby and I volunteered to help with the invites that she is in charge of. She asked if I had a cowboy stamp and I said I could borrow one. So, I borrowed Cowboy Kid (retired) and created these cards for her to choose from. I thought they turned out cute.

I do realize it is a long time between my posts...life got crazier, if you can believe it.

I just realized today that I have barely over a month until SU convention and I have yet to start my swaps. Seems my husbands ability to procrastinate is rubbing off.

Anyway, here are a couple cards. This one is the one I did for club last month. For you girls who weren't here and have the kit...now you can put it together. We focused on dry embossing. Inspiration from this card came from the Spring-Summer 2009 Idea Book and Catalog. I had to improvise because I didn't have all the supplies shown though. This card also uses the faux stitching and build a brads.

Here is the start of a few projects for my 1 loyal looker (if she is still here).

This is the invitation I made for my son's baptism a few weeks go. It was very simple. I just used SU Whisper white cardstock cut to 4 x 5.25 (I think). Then I cut a 3/4 inch strip 1 inch toward the middle on the top and folded those toward each other to create the collar. I used the bottom half of the small tag punch for the top of the tie and just created my own tie bottom. The pocket is also an upside down small tag. Then I scuffed it all with basic grey ink. The DSP is also SU (retired).Here is a card I did for a card exchange a while ago. I used the Bella Rosa DSP, white cardstock, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red and close to cocoa inks, markers and sponge daubers. To get the stem Kiwi stem I used a blender pen with Kiwi reinker and colored on the stamp.
Here is a club project from a few months ago using the Big Shot texturz plates. We also used the color spirtzer tool on the white cardstock.

I know you are all waiting for my projects. I was just taking a few and the batteries in my camera went dead, but I assure you they are coming.

In the meantime, I got an email from my cousin which was forwarded from her friend. You really need to check out this link. The story is sad to me, but I love that she is not just feeling sorry for herself and is doing something to help their situation. Those little animals are the cutest thing and very genius. Thanks to those who voted for me. I didn't win, unfortunately. They say no, but I swear there was cheating going on for that person to have over 2000 votes. I'm okay though, now that the embarrassment of showing my messy house and scrapbook areas to the world is over.

OK, so now I know that nobody is ready this...I got 4 comments, even with bribery. So it may not have been a lot, but it was bribery. Two of the 4 comments were my good friend who put me in for the contest and my mom. So, I'm going to just give you all some cards. Please email me your address at emily_albrecht at hotmail dot com. I'm not guaranteeing how quickly you will get them, but I will get them to you, I promise. I am now working full time and have very little time to make things and on top of that, pregnant with the whole sick thing going on. I think I do have some scrapbook layouts and cards to show, I just have been too lazy to take photos. But keep your eyes open, you never know when a burst of energy or a second of sickness will subside.

A little begging

I'm not sure how many readers I even have on this blog, thus the reason for not posting anything lately. It is really hard to be motivated to post when I know that only my local friend and my sister are looking. Anyway, I will try to do better, especially if I know there are some who are reading (comments would be good). I realize that was some begging, for comments, but that is not what I am begging for.

This is a name frame that I made for a bridal shower for my cousin's fiance. I love making these and they are so easy. Sometimes I do them to say Families are Forever and other times I just use the last name. They are so simple, but so elegant and they make great wedding gifts.

I used retired HodgePodge hardware and Headline alphabet, Doodle this stamp set, Moss, Carmel, Ruby Red, and chocolate chip paper and ink and vanilla paper. I got the frame at WalMart. The words "est 2009" are printed on my computer.

I hope this was worth the wait

I'm not really sure where the days go, but before I know it it has been 2 or 3 weeks since I blogged last. Here are a few projects from the weekend...

This first card was made using an example from the Stampin' Success demonstrator publication that I get monthly from Stampin'Up. I used the bleaching technique. Kind of a bad picture, but you get the idea, I hope. Bleaching was fun, but I HATE the stuff!

Ingredients: Old olive, chocolate chip, ruby red, so saffron paper. Doodle this stamp set , oval punches and designer label punch, old olive grosgrain ribbon 1/4", mat pack. words on the oval punch says "I'm so sorry" and it is from a hostess set a few catalogs back.

I am in a card club here in town and this month we are exchanging 6 x 6 recipe cards with our favorite dessert. I created this layout and will be putting a caramel popcorn recipe on it. The stamp is a current hostess set Comfort Food. The red and mustard papers are current colors, but the DSP and Wasabi are retired.And here is a card I created using the new sale a bration paper and stamps. I love them. Last week I let my friend borrow my star punch. I had actually forgotten all about it until earlier this week when she came to bring it back and brought me this card. She said she had seen the card layout in Papercrafter magazine and just had to try it. I'm so glad she did and that she was nice enough to bring me a sample. I think it is so cute. I have no idea what supplies she used other than SU small star punch.

I got asked to teach the young women in our ward at church next week and I think I might use this layout. Thanks Melinda.

Slight dilema

So I was going to finally get something posted here, and go to download my pictures and what do you know? I have lost the USB cord to my camera. That's what I get for cleaning my office isn't it? Darn it.

So, until I tear the place apart and offer a monetary reward to the 3 year old who most assuredly took it, I am going to show you another one of my hobbies.

This is a log cabin quilt that I made in 2001. It was the first quilt I ever pieced together. When I got done my grandma graciously hand quilted it. Definitely stitched with love. I'm still not sure how she can do that, but she is amazing. I don't think it even took her long.

So here it is....

I have a few cute cards I am dying to post so I will try to find that blasted cord....maybe I need a new camera?!?!?!

Bridal shower invitation

My cousin kindly asked me to make bridal shower invitations for her soon to be sister-in-law's bridal shower. So this is what I created. There are a few of you who read this that will get one...please act surprised. :)

Her colors are Brown, pink, and a light green.

To create this I just used a 1/4 sheet of whisper white cardstock and stamped the Eastern Blooms flowers with Chocolate chip, Pretty in pink, and green galore ink. I also used the swirly from the Season of Joy stamp set. I then punched 2 holes with my crop a dile and used pink taffeta ribbon at the top to hold the velum to the cardstock. The invite was printed on the velum. I thought it turned out cute. What do you think?

I can't resist this one. A Wrestling Addicted Mommy is doing a review and giveaway for a fabulous Epson Artison printer. This is probably something I don't HAVE to have, but I really could use a new printer. I got my printer in 1997 or 1998 I think. We all know how fast computers go outdated, so we all know this printer is almost an antique. It does the job, but I'm positive the new Epson would do it faster and with better quality. It has Wi-Fi capabilities so you can have one less cord behind the computer desk. I love that it is also a scanner, copier, fax machine. Just yesterday while submitting paperwork for my new job I could have used it and saved myself some money. I had to copy some ID and then fax a whole lot of paperwork to my new company. My current scanner is SLOW and since I had to reformat my computer in January I have been unable to even get it to work. So as you can see, I NEED to win this awesome Epson!

Big shot projects

Here are a few projects I created using the big shot. These projects were also copied from the demonstrator website video tutorials. The big shot is really a lot of fun to use. If you haven't tried it yet, I strongly suggest it. The dies I used for these 2 projects came with the starter kit.

Here are a few cards I created Saturday night. As I mentioned before, as demonstrators we have access to a lot of inspiration through the company. On our demonstrator website we have technique videos showing us how to do certain techniques. I watched a few and had to try them out. These cards are exact layouts of those shown on the video, but may be altered in color or stamp sets, etc.

This first card is showing the shadowing technique. It was really fun and so simple. You use the wheel in the in that matches your paper (celery was used here). Then you ink the roller with the whisper white craft ink and go over it with the wheel moved just a little bit to create that shadow. I also used old olive cardstock, and Summer Picnic DSP on this card. I used certainly celery grosgrain ribbon, oval punches, and the punches plus classy brass template. I don't know if you can tell, but the Thanks is shadowed and is on the inside of the card. Then I used the oval punch to punch a hole through the front so it shows like a window.Here is another view...sorry for the blur.
This is a card I came up with using dry embossing. You stamp your image(s) and then put your paper on the light box and you can see to emboss around the stamped image.
Ingredients: Pick a Petal stamp set, bashful blue, brilliant blue, and whisper white cardstock, bashful blue and brilliant blue ink, bashful blue 1/2 striped grosgrain ribbon

Maxey family project

I was looking through Bloggy Carnival giveaways today and came across this one at A future pastor's wife. You need to check it out. The Maxey family has lost one child to cancer and now their 4 month old is also battling cancer. Doesn't that just break your heart. I wish I knew the reasons that children, and people in general were getting cancer. It is a horrible disease. The last of the weekend cards

These are the last of the cards I created last weekend. These 3 are probably my least favorites.

Card 1: I did this card for a class over a year ago and just found some spare supplies I had cute out already. I just switched it up a bit to use the supplies I currently had.
Ingredients: Season of Joy, Its Your Birthday, and Eastern Blooms stamp sets, Basic black, whisper white, more mustard, tempting turquoise, and rose red paper, basic black, whisper white craft, more mustard, tempting turquoise, and rose red inks, crystal effects, and dazzling diamonds glitter.

Card 2: This card layout was copied from the card on page 117 of the new Spring-Summer 2009 IBC. I liked the colors of green and purple in the new book and I have never used them much. I don't really like the combination though.
Ingredients: Season of joy, So many scallops, and Time Well Spent stamp sets. Very vanilla, kiwi kiss, lavender lace, and elegant eggplant paper. Paper piercing tool, white gel pen, lavendar marker, and blender pen with kiwi reinker, square scallop punch, and 1/2" circle punch.

Card 3: This was another which I actually took the layout from the new Spring-Summer 2009 IBC. Of course all the stamps were changed as I didn't have the new ones.
Ingredients: Live like you mean it stamp set, and warm words stamp set, Pink Pirouette, mellow moss, and whisper white cardstock, white craft ink, rose red , pink pirouette, mellow moss ink and markers, 1 1/4" pink pirouette grosgrain ribbon, white taffeta ribbon.

Here are some more cards that I created this last weekend. Again, these were mostly CASE'd from the catalog.

Card 1: This is a variation of the card found on pages 8 and 9 of the Fall-Winter 2008 IBC.Ingredients: Eastern Blooms and Heartfelt Thanks stamp sets. Baja Breeze and whisper white paper. Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, and Riding Hood Red ink. 1/4" circle punch, and Riding Hood Red 5/8" striped grosgrain ribbon.

Card 2: Variation of card found on page 10 of the Fall-Winter 2008 IBC.

Ingredients: Inspired by Nature and Much Appreciated (retired) stamp sets, Rose Red DSP (retired pattern), Chocolate chip, rose red, and certainly celery paper. Whisper White craft ink, 1/4" chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon.

Card 3: Variation of card found on page 30 of the Fall-Winter IBC.
Ingredients: Loads of Love stamp set, barely banana, really rust, kraft, and close to cocoa paper, water color pencils and blender pens, barely banana and always arthichoke marker

Here are a couple of the cards I made this weekend. As you will notice, some of these are exact replicas from cards found in Stampin'Up's Idea Book and Catalog (IBC), which is very appropriately named. When I don't have my creative mojo along, the catalog is just the tool I need. Remember that starting February 1st Stampin'Up is giving a free catalog for every order placed on my demonstrator website. That is a 9.95 value. A link to my website is on the top right of my blog.

Ok...down to business. Card 1 found on pg 19 of the Fall-Winter 2008 IBC. Ingredients: Live like you mean it stamp set. Real red, more mustard, and very vanilla carstock. Real red, always artichoke, and more mustard stampin write markers, mellow moss taffeta ribbon, and stamp-a-majig, and dimensionals. You might have to look close...the live like you mean it saying is sideways next to the flowers on the red paper.

Card 2: Variation of the card found on pg 47 of the Fall-Winter 2008 IBC.
Ingredients: So Many Scallops and Inspired by Nature stamp sets, Kraft, Baja Breeze, and Certainly Celery, and whisper white paper, Pink Pirhouette 1 1/4" grosgrain and 1/4" Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon, Craft white ink and Baja Breeze classic ink, cutter kit to rough up the edge of the celery card stock.

Card 3: Card found on page 59 of the Fall-Winter 2008 IBC.
Ingredients: Simply Said and and SAB set from last year (sentiment) stamp sets (I'm too lazy to go look at the set to find its name), Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla cardstock, Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery, and Bashful Blue inks, earth elements buttons, silver brad, pop up glue dots.

I hope you enjoy them. It is great to take advantage of this great tool Stampin'Up provides.

Bugged

So I'm a bit bugged. Let me explain. A few weeks ago our volleyball team got together to practice with great anticipation that we were going to be better this year and win a few more games. We have a sponsor and are ready.

Now, fast forward a few weeks, 1 week before game day. Our team was told that we were too late to sign up because we had missed "the deadline" and that the schedules were done and printed. We had never even heard the volleyball buzz around town. So, needless to say our team was mighty sad. Today I saw one of my teammates at the local grocery store. I told her I was bummed to be missing out on volleyball. Her response, "I'm furious." She says she called the girl in charge of the volleyball and was told a completely different story. She was planning on creating the schedule within a few days of their conversation. My teammate said that girl was very rude to her on the phone and very condescending. Hello!?! Are we back in high school? This county volleyball is supposed to be an out for women, a way to make new friends, and a way to get out of the house once a week.

I admit that our team could use some improvement, okay, a lot of improvement, but we went and had fun. We weren't there to win. Is competition that important? Are we just not part of the "in" crowd and so we were kicked out? Were we excluded because we were not the "bod squad" or the team with the most breast augmentations? I didn't know being on a high school team and being able to "spike" or "tip" the ball with control was a prerequisite. I'm not sure what the reasoning, but they all seem rather lame. Can we all just grow up a little and be friends? She also said that another team from our town was not allowed to play. (The other teams are mostly from the northern part of the county.)

Next year they might think differently. My good old teammate is going to make some waves and we WILL be playing. She might be getting herself a job as the head hancho. However, I have no doubts that if she does things will be fair and fun. In the meantime, we are going to see if we can get the other outcast team together with us and have some fun. Here's to my brave teammate...may the force be with you!

Ok, this weekend we made a quick trip to our hometown and my mom, sister, and I actually took a day to create. It was fun. We kidnapped my mom from her house so she didn't have cleaning to do. We went to my sister's house and just had fun. I found this great idea on the Stampin'Up demonstrator website. Aren't I lucky to have such great resources? Thanks to Lisa Vale, another demonstrator for submitting her great idea. I didn't have the exact paper and stamp sets she used, so this is my version.

My mom wanted to create one for the ladies she serves with at church. So here is her version. She had already started making the dryer sheet cards when I suggested the tote. Since I didn't have designer series paper to match her cards I just created my own. I thought it turned out really cute.
So tell me how you like it. I am planning to do a class where you can create your own. The cost of the class will be $15.00. All you have to provide is the adhesive. What? You don't live close to me? No problem! I will prepare the kit and send it to you for you to assemble. The shipping will be minimal as it is just cardstock. We can work that out, just let me know if you are interested. Here is the catch....the pattern paper I used is retiring as of Sunday night (18th). So, you will be able to choose which paper you want. We can work out details.

Thought: Perhaps God would want you to become acquainted with many different people in your life, so that when you meet the right ones you can appreciate and be grateful for them.

Swap, Calendar, and tag

First of all, I was in a stocking stuffer swap hosted by The Well-rounded Woman. I am a bit late, but I wanted to thank my new friend who I think is Lawana for the foam stamps, cards with envelopes, ready to make scrapbook purse, and drink mix (not pictured). It was fun to have a surprise. I will definitely do it again next year. Thanks to Tara and my new friend. (Please give me a link to your blog so I can make sure I am giving the proper person credit.)

I was tagged by Sharla at The Mom Nerd. Here is how it goes...I have to tell 7 things, random things, about me and then tag 7 people. Beware...this will be more than you will ever want to know about me.

1. I have a case of OCD. I find myself caring about stupid things like if the bucket of miscellaneous screws, nuts, and bolts are separated and organized. Or if the towels are folded exactly right (fold 3 times lengthwise and then in half twice). When I make the bed the sheets and blankets have to be exactly even on both sides. Okay, you get my point, I won't rat myself out any more.

2. I don't really love to clean but I have to have a clean house...what if someone stops by and sees it messy?

3. I have way too many hobbies for the time I have. I am a perfect example of "Jack of all trades, master of none". I love stamping, scrapbooking, cross stitching, quilting, ceramics, tole painting, reading, baking, genealogy, and probably some I am forgetting that I never have time for. I really should give up a few hobbies so I can become good at one or 2 rather than dabble in all.

4. I consider myself shy until I become comfortable with you and then we can talk for hours. However, even my closest friends will never see me do things like get up in front of a crowd and act or sing....right Sharla?

5. I used to be so organized and on top of things until I got married and had kids. Now it seems as if things only get done just before deadlines. Take my stamp club for example. How wonderful would it be to have 3 months at a time (or more) planned out for club projects? Well, club is Thursday and I have yet to decide what to do. Hoping for some inspiration....and soon.

6. I am a member of the LDS church and have been since I was 8 years old. I consider myself extremely lucky there.

7. I HATE being cold with a PASSION! In the winter you will usually find me with sweaters, wool socks, slippers, and possibly a coat and gloves, even in the house. While I sit here at the computer and work each day I have to wear socks even though they sometimes get caught in my foot pedal. I even have a space heater next to me that is always on.

I am not sure I have 7 people who read my blog, so consider yourself tagged if you feel so inclined.

Here are a few more calendar photos. I love how each of these tell a story and for those who weren't involved in our year, I just have to explain one photo cuz it is so cute. In the November layout (the first one) on the top left corner you will see my younger son sitting on the back of the couch staring out the window all, all dressed up in his cowboy attire. My husband and older son were heading out to a concert of the Bar J Wranglers. Hubby said to Son 1, "Go get your cowboy clothes on we ahve to go." So both sons proceeded to get dressed up. Son 2 was completely heart broke when hubby and son 1 left without him. He cried for 15 minutes straight. I tried ignoring him, but finally I came in to see this and couldn't resist taking a photo. I called hubby and he was able to call his dad and get another ticket so he told him to get ready because he was coming to get him. The crying immediately stopped and he was one happy cowboy after that.

I took a short break from blogging during the Christmas break. I think I am ready to be back now...hopefully things are slowing down.

I started a tradition to make a scrapbook calendar of my kids for our mother's for Christmas. This year I procrastinated, thus the reason for the long break. I did get them done on the 23rd though (none too soon). I thought I would share a couple for you to see. When I take download pictures from my camera to my computer I organize them in months. Then when Christmas comes I just go through each month and pick some photos to print. I put the photos from last July on the calendar for the coming July. That way, when the calendars are done being used for the year they can put them in a scrapbook and they are in chronological order.

I am sure that everyone is feeling the budget crunch like we are this Christmas. My friend told me about a great giveaway done by the Walmart eleven moms. There are 20 of them and they are each giving away $500.00 gift card to Walmart sponsored by WalMart and Nickelodeon.

I get my nonfood products which are safer for my home and cheaper delivered right to my door. Here is some more punch art I have created. I haven't finished all the cards, but I wanted you to be able to see the punch idea.

Christmas tree made with the oval punch. You can use the small or large oval. Small star punch on top.This flower was made with the tag punch. I got the idea from my demonstrator magazine. Some great information in there. I used circle punches for the center along with a rubon
This little leprechaun is my own creation. I used the word window punch and square punch for his hat. His hair was used with the square scallop (you could use the circle scallop too). His head is the 1 3/8" circle. His eyes are 1/4" circle. His mouth is the slot punch. His arms are done using the word window punch. His body is made out of the designer label punch. His belt is made with 2 slot punches and the 1/4 and 1/2" circle punches. His legs are made with word window punch and his shoes are made with the round tab punch. The buckles on his shoes were made using the crop-a-dile.
I CASE'd this owl from my Stampin' Success demonstrator magazine as well. The head is the round tab punch. The eyes are 3/4, 1/2, and 1/8" circles. The beak was a point from the star punch. His wings are the scallop circle punch. His body was made using the Coluzzle. His feet were made with three 1/8" circles each. A flower would have worked best, but I didn't have a flower punch.
Another flower made with tag punches that I got the idea from the Stampin' Success. THe middle uses 2 scallop circle punches and the 1 3/8" circle with a rubon.

This month for club I wanted to focus on punches. We created this turkey card which I CASE'd from the Stampin' Success demonstrator magazine. It uses the scallop punch, 1 3/8 circle, 3/4 circle, 1/8 circle, star (beak), 3/4 square, 1/4 circle punches. I had a lot of other punch art examples and the girls requested I put them on my blog so they will remember the ideas. I will do a few a day. So enjoy. Sorry all the pictures are not fabulous.
Spider uses photo corner punch, scallop punch and 1/4 circles.Sesame Stree characters use scallop, 1/2 circle, 1/4 circle, and small and large ovals.
Santa uses scallop, 1" circle, 3/4 inch circle and 1 1/4 circle.
Snowman uses scallop, small oval, and 1 1/4" circle for flower, 1 3/8" circle, 1" circle, and 1/2" circle punches.
Pumpkins are made with 3 small oval punches and the slot punch for the stem. I also used the scallop punch for the decorated edge on the mustard paper.

I guess I was in the mood for fall decor. All the cute things SU has for the season could make anyone love it. I found this sort of 3D frame at Target. I was hoping more of the shadow box type, but figured this would work. Well, the frame actually gets in the way of the vinyl so you have to look carefully to read the top "season of" line. I used the Autumn Vine DSP from SU's Holiday Mini. I think it is cute despite the frame. Next time I'll do white. I love the Decor Elements vinyl. I've been thinking what I can redecorate so I can have some on the walls.

Here is another great idea I copied from Dawn. This is 2 envelopes hooked together to create a card and envelope holder. The front of mine is a little dull as I forgot to add the rust for highlights on the petals. These are the notecards and envelopes that are inside the packet. A little bit of stationary, which I think would make a great gift, or how about a stocking stuffer for Christmas??
About a month ago I was lucky enough to win some blog candy on Jill's Card Creations. She sent me the kit in the mail and I was able to just assemble it. I love how she created her own designer paper from the Stitched Exotics stamp set. It also came with a little box purse that matched and the cards fit perfectly in it. (It got smooshed in my travles and is ruined, but you can probably visit her site and see it.)

A few weeks ago my sister and I got together and actually made some cards. Our parents were out of town and so we went to her house and just stamped our hearts out.

This first card was the card I created for my monthly card exchange. I had to try out the new Alpine Ribbon in SU's holiday mini catalog which will be available tomorrow, October 1. The joy was created from the Join in the cheer die from the Big Shot. Chocolate chip and Kiwi Kiss paper were used. I also used did paper piercing just above the scalloped edge.I copied this card from Dawn at Dawn's Stampin Thoughts (see sidebar for link). I just had to try the faux wood technique. It is so easy and looks so cute. Dawn has an awesome video tutorial on her blog on how to create this background. I think it would be awesome with some cowboy stamp sets.
My cousin wanted some front only thank you cards so there was less writing space to utilize. Here is the note I came up with. I thought it was very simple but cute. I used Always Artichoke paper and ink, whisper white paper with the top note die, inspired by nature stamp set using summer sun, chocolate chip and artichoke markers as well as really rust ink on a dauber.
I CASEd this card, but cannot remember where I got it from (sorry). Mine does not look near as cute as hers did The flower was made with versamark ink and stampin pastels. Black and white paper as well as white craft ink and old olive grossgrain ribbon and the circle designer brads which I colored with a black sharpie marker. I also used the scalloped edge punch. The stamp set is Eastern Blooms.

I got this fabulous scrapbook idea at convention from Jaron Winder. I absolutely fell in love with it when he was showing it to us and I knew I had to make one. Those of you who attended convention will notice that it is almost identical to his. Mine is not all the way complete yet as I don't have too many pictures of me, but this will give everyone a general idea. I am offering this as a class as well. Please let me know if you would like to participate either by coming to my house or via mail. The cost of the class is 55.00. It will include the simply scrappin kit of your choice (I used Pina Colada), the Loads of Letters chipboard letters, 1 package of coordinating cardstock (I used Riding Hood Red), and the 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 chipboard album. I will provide the stamps, ribbon, punches, and other accessories you will need to complete this entire book. I do ask that you provide your own adhesives, paper trimmer, journaling pen, and photos of course. As you can see, the last pages of the book are just the layouts. Jaron had included Favorite places to shop, what's in the bag (purse) and a day in the life of. I have left those blank as I am going to come up with my own entries there.

September club

Last night I held my September stamp club. I wanted to show the girls what Mary Polcin taught us all at convention, how to incorporate a 6x6 page into an 8 1/2 x 11 and then into a 12 x 12 so that you can fit everyone's scrapbooks. I used the 8x8 page we created as a make and take at Convention for the inspiration. I had the girls create the 6x6 page that is included in this layout. It is the ruby red page. I should have taken pictures of the steps before I glued them all together, but you will have to use your imagination this time. For those of you who were not at convention, the 6x6 page fits onto the 8 1/2 x 11 page and you just add a few more pictures and elements. Then, if you do 12x12, you put the finished 8 1/2 x 11 page onto the 12x12 and add a few more elements to create the finished page. I also wanted to show them the Big Shot which we used for the Baja Breeze flower on the 6x6 page.

Ingredients: Paper: Ruby red, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, and More Mustard CS.
Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly.
Accessories: Designer buttons, On board loads of letters, Hidden Garden Rubons, Big Shot Birds & Blooms die, scallop edge punch, Vanilla tafeta ribbon died with rose red ink.

This technique was very fun and I hope to do a lot more of it. Hopefully it will make the scrapbooking a bit easier.

I can't believe it. I actually took the time to create something. It helped that I got my new Sizzix Big Shot from Stampin'Up and I couldn't let it just sit in the box 1 second longer. It also helps to have a card exchange that I belong to with some of my friends to make me take the time. So I'll just stop the babbling and show you the card that I created. I got the idea to use the top note die from a few cards online. I wanted to use the new Inspired By Nature stamp set I received free at convention as well.

Ok, so I took over 200 pictures at the convention and that was with my batteries being dead for a whole day. Luckily I met a new friend who is going to share her pics with me. I just thought I would share a few pictures with you. It would take entirely too long to blog all 200. Can I just say that Stampin'Up is awesome. They have awesome staff who put together a fabulous convention. Not to mention the AWESOME new products and catalog that they are coming out with. On Wednesday I did a whole lot of swapping and then went on the tour of the home office in Riverton. They have an awesome building. Here are a few pictures. This is me by the waterfall/scenery which is in the lunchroom. Yes, the lunchroom.
This is the legacy room. You may recognize this from the picture out of the decor elements brochure. Isn't it so cute? Notice the vinyl Decor Elements boat and the dots on the border.

This picture is a room display they had set up at convention. It is so cute isn't it? Notice the stamping on the walls and the Decor Elements on the table and chair.

If you are familiar with Stampin'Up you will know that every year they design an exclusive stamp set every year to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. When you purchase the select set, $2.00 from the sell of each goes to the charity. This picture above is when Shelli was giving the check to Ronald. They give $100,000.00 every year plus the 2.00 per set. The check for the year and 1 quarter was just over $126,000.00. Lucky for us demonstrators, UPS donated the Say It with Scallops stamp set to us (yeah for free stamps). It is so cute and goes great with the new scallop square punch. I hope everyone who stamps owns this set before the end of the year.

This was my first convention and I stepped out of my comfort zone and went ALONE. Totally alone. I have no upline and have yet to recruit any of my own downline. So I got on the forums and found a group of girls that I could room with. We rented a really nice house in SLC. Here is our group picture. They were awesome and there was never a dull moment. As you can see, the only time we were all together was right before going to bed, so if we look like we had a long day, it is because we had! So, meet my 12 new friends.

I also ran into another fellow blogger. You can see her blog here. I was so excited to meet her. I was watching for others, but with a group of 6,000 stampers, it is like finding a needle in a haystack. Nice to meet Dawn though.Convention was awesome and I will plan on going back every year. Especially with it in SLC...not too far from home, how can I resist? I hope I have a recruit or 2 of my own to take with me next year. Hint Hint.

Ok, so just remember that the new catalog launches on August 11 (7 days and counting). Be sure to call me today to reserve your date for your workshop. You will definitely want to do that because there is just too much to buy, you are definitely going to want to earn it free. The new Big Shot die cut machine and exclusive SU dies are literally a must have. I will be getting one and will show some samples at a later date.

General swaps and shoebox swap

These are a few of my general swaps.

This one is made with Zoofari. I used not quite navy, pumpkin pie, and certainly celery, vanilla and kraft paper. Black, pumpkin pie, and certainly celery inks. I used blender pens and the ink pads to color the birds. This card is made with the So Cool stamp set. I used Ballet Blue, sage shadow, and real red markers and paper as well as vanilla paper. It looks fairly simple, but required lots of coloring on the stamp.
This card is using the spotlight technique. I created this card a while back for my club and decided to change the colors and make it for swap. I use bashful blue, real red, pink pirouette, and whisper white paper. I also used the blender pen and pink pirouette reinker to color the highlighted flowers. I used wonderful words for the greeting and pink taffeta ribbon. Obviously the 1 3/8 and 1 1/4 circle punches.
This is a 3D shoebox swap I am doing with my housemates. I have never done a shoebox swap, so I feel it is inadequate. Hopefully it will be okay. It is a milk carton made of cardstock. I used riding hood red paper and ink and vanilla paper. I used Heartfelt thanks stamps and watercolor joy wheel. I also used scallop and circle punches. The carton will be filled with Jelly Bellies.

Card Candy

I am a first timer to convention and am learning all kinds of new lingo. Card candy is a new one for me. I saw the swap listed on SCS and had to join after I saw a few examples. When I started thinking about this I was just thinking I had to make 1 piece and then put it in a wrapper with like a tag on it. Then I started looking for more ideas and it hit me what they meant. I re-read the instructions and it stated 6 pieces minimum in a bag with a topper. So...I'm glad I figured that out or I would have felt REALLY stupid exchanging.

Anyway, this is what I came up with. I used the nursery necessities stamp set. The baby is from All in the family, lettering is big deal alpha, and the flower is from the new Seasonal Icons. I used the new In colors Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette. I'm not sure if you can tell, but the yellow star is hanging from the moon. This project was time consuming, but oh so fun, and I think they turned out pretty cute.
